Kristine Johnson

March 19, 2017

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of long-time ǧƵ employee Kristine Johnson who died of cancer on March 19, 2017 at the age of 67. She was a member of the development team from 1999 to 2016. The ǧƵ flag will be lowered in her memory.

Kristine was Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts and Constituent Relations from 1999 until 2005 when her title changed to Associate Director of Special Gifts and Planned Giving. She played a key role in the success of the Discovery Campaign, the ǧƵ’s first comprehensive, public fundraising campaign which raised $41 million for MBL programs, and later the Catalyst Campaign which raised more than $136 million.

Kristine worked closely with many people in the ǧƵ community who made bequests and other deferred gift arrangements to benefit the ǧƵ. In 2013 she helped found SUCCESS (Shaping and Understanding Career Choices in Education, Science and Self), a career development program for young scientists for which she was very proud.

A memorial service will be held this summer in her hometown of Berlin, New Hampshire.
