It is with sadness that we share the passing of MBL Society Emeritus Member Leonard Warren of Bala Cynwyd, PA and Woods Hole, MA who died in a traffic accident on April 1, 2019. The ǧƵ flag will be lowered to half-mast in his memory.

Dr. Warren was Professor Emeritus of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and Institute Professor Emeritus at The Wistar Institute. His research included studies of glycoproteins and the biochemistry of surface membranes of normal and malignant animal cells.

Dr. Warren had a long connection with the ǧƵ. He was a summer researcher in the 1960s and 1970s and a Library Reader from the 1980s through 2016. In his retirement he authored several science biographies including “Joseph Leidy: The Last Man Who Knew Everything,” Yale University Press (1998), winner of The Athenaeum of Philadelphia Literary Award.
